FIFA has banned Eto'o from attending any Cameroon national team matches for six months. Why?
Legendary former striker Samuel Eto'o, currently serving as the president of the Cameroon Football Federation, has been hit with a significant penalty from FIFA.
Details: Today, FIFA officially announced that Eto'o has been banned from attending matches involving any of Cameroon's national teams for a period of six months.
The reason stems from two charges related to an incident during the U-20 Women's World Cup in Colombia on September 11th. On that day, Cameroon’s U-20 women's team lost 1-3 to Brazil in the Round of 16.
FIFA has not specified what exactly Eto'o did, but his actions fall under two articles: Article 13 – Offensive behavior and violations of fair play principles, and Article 14 – Misconduct by players and officials.
As a result, Eto'o will be unable to attend upcoming Cameroon matches in the qualifying campaigns for the 2026 World Cup and the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Reminder: The former Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Chelsea forward became president of the Cameroon Football Federation in December 2021.
