Liverpool's initial attempt to negotiate with Feyenoord regarding the transfer of their head coach, Arne Slot, proved unsuccessful.

As reported by The Athletic, the Rotterdam-based club rejected Liverpool's initial offer of €9 million. Slot's contract with Feyenoord, which runs until the summer of 2026, does not specify a particular buyout clause for moving to another club.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between the clubs are ongoing. Liverpool remains confident that they will eventually reach an agreement.

Arne Slot himself is very keen on becoming Liverpool's head coach. Contract discussions with the 45-year-old Dutchman are progressing positively.

Previously, Sporting's head coach Ruben Amorim was considered the favorite for the Liverpool head coach position, but in recent days, the club has turned away from this option.

Under Slot's guidance this season, Feyenoord won the Dutch Cup, while in the previous season, they triumphed in the Eredivisie.
