Jonathan David continues to impress with his scoring form for Atlético. The Canadian striker scored in the seventh-round La Liga clash with Real Madrid, finding the net in each of his first three league appearances for the Madrid club.

Atlético lead 2-0 in the 59th minute, with David scoring the team's second goal. As a result, the forward has matched a rare achievement accomplished by only three players in the last 80 years of the Madrid club's history.

Before David, only Mendonça in 1958, Aguilar in 1975 and Penev in 1995 had scored in each of their first three La Liga matches for Atlético. The Canadian forward has now joined that exclusive list.

David joined Atlético after spells with Lille and has already begun to live up to the fans' expectations from the opening rounds of the league. Three matches, three La Liga goals—and now a historic achievement to his name.

Notably, Real Madrid is a familiar opponent for David. During the 2024/25 season, while playing for Lille, the Canadian scored against the Madrid club in the Champions League. His goal helped the French side defeat Real in the league phase of the competition.
