Everton has extended the contract of their veteran player, Ashley Young, as announced on the club's official website. The 38-year-old Englishman will remain with the Liverpool-based team for another season.

Young is the second-oldest player in the English Premier League, with only West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski being older at 39 years.

Ashley Young is well-known for his stints with Manchester United, Inter Milan, Watford, and Aston Villa. The versatile full-back has also made 39 appearances for the England national team, scoring seven goals.

Earlier reports indicated that Everton is set to have a new owner, with all terms of the deal already agreed upon.

In the previous season, Everton finished in 15th place in the Premier League, narrowly avoiding relegation despite facing point deductions for breaching financial fair play regulations.
