Eric Tinkler on Lehlonolo Mojela brace against Orbit College: I think he deserves the two goals even though I believe he could have scored more
Lehlohonolo Mojela has not reached his full potential as yet.
The midfielder has stayed long out of the game to be at his level required to reach his potential at Sekhukhune United.
Mojela joined Babina Noko last month after staying out of the game for long as he was transfer-listed by Stellenbosch FC last October.
Yesterday, the midfielder netted a brace at Sekhukhune United beat Orbit College 2-0 at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The win saw Eric Tinkler’s men leapfrog Kaizer Chiefs to the third spot of the Betway Premiership standings with 32 points, two more than Chiefs, who are fourth.
“Yeah, he could have got three today,” said Tinkler after the game.
“You know, I spoke to him about the importance of playing with positivity and energy. He didn’t get a lot of game time. Yes, he was out for a long time with an injury at Stellenbosch, but he didn’t really get game time while he was there.
“So, you know, we’ve just been supporting him and backing him and giving him as many minutes as possible. We played a friendly midweek just to give him even more game minutes. And he responded well and because of the energy and the positivity he showed, he got goals. Now he needs to do that consistently.
“You want that level of competitiveness between the players. So, I’m happy for him. I think he deserves it because of the effort that he’s put in, but I had to bit of a kick up the bum to wake him up.”
