Georgian national team and Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is one step closer to joining Liverpool this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool representatives arrived in Spain today to negotiate with Valencia and the player's representatives. The parties are reportedly close to reaching an agreement.
Initially, it was expected that after transferring to Liverpool, the Georgian goalkeeper would remain at Valencia on loan for one season. However, a new option is being discussed. Liverpool now prefers Mamardashvili to acclimate to English football, so he will be loaned out to Bournemouth. According to the club's plan, Mamardashvili will take over as Liverpool's main goalkeeper within 1-2 years, replacing Alisson.
Throughout his career, Mamardashvili has played 100 matches for Valencia, recording 31 clean sheets.
It's worth noting that Liverpool has yet to make any new signings this summer, and just a few days ago, the club was turned down by Real Sociedad's central midfielder Martín Zubimendi.
