Egyptian Football Association (EFA) Has Explain the Reason Why Mohamed Salah Will Miss South Sudan AFCON Qualifier

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has confirmed the reason why Mohamed Salah will miss Egypt's second 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against South Sudan on September 29.

The Trabzonspor forward will not travel with the Pharaohs for the fixture because the match will be played on an artificial turf pitch, and Egypt's technical staff have decided to rest their captain as a precaution.

Salah featured in Egypt's opening qualifier against Angola at the Cairo International Stadium on Friday but was substituted midway through the second half as the game ended in a goalless draw.

The EFA confirmed the decision on Saturday, saying the playing surface was the main reason for Salah's absence.

"The Egypt ​national team's technical staff, led by Hossam Hassan, has decided to rest Mohamed Salah for the match against ‌South Sudan scheduled for September 29th because of the playing surface," EFA said on social media.
