Durban City: Ernst Middendorp is back at the Betway Premiership club as Technical Director having left while Gavin Hunt was still in charge

Ernst Middendorp's return to Durban City as Technical Director coincided with the appointment of Sinethemba Badela as coach.

Badela arrives at Chatsworth Stadium as replacement of departed Gavin Hunt.

Hunt was relieved off his duties last month and only Friday Badela was announced. While Hunt arrived in the off-season, Middendorp was the Technical Director.

A reported clash of ideas within the two fractured their working relationship which saw the German leave City.

Hunt remained but, seemingly, his days were numbered as Middendorp has always been the preferred man for the team by chairman Farouk Kadodia.

Kadodia and Middendorp have been the best of friends since the days of Maritzburg United and even now, he is waiting on the wing should Badela fail to deliver.

City were left in a healthy position, seventh, on the table by Hunt, which is a respectable spot given that they just gained promotion from the National First Division.
