Durban City coach Pitso Dladla on his players: Some of them can compete with the players in the national team at the moment as they have the quality
Pitso Dladla has lauded Durban City’s central defensive pairing of Mfanafuthi Mkhize and Siphamandla Ncanana.
Dladla said his players are as equally adept in their defensive duties in the PSL that they are on par with Bafana Bafana players.
The Durban City coach is likely to sing praises to his team given that they are currently in the top eight bracket and they have also made it to the Nedbank Cup final.
And Dladla is only on an interim basis since the team parted ways with former coach Sinethemba Badela at the start of the year.
“Yes, look, I think two things, Mfanafuthi Mkhize is a quality player, one of the best centre-backs in the country together with Ncanana,” said Dladla.
“I think, I’m just saying this, I think they are equally good as those who are in the national team. But we will get the full medical report tomorrow. I don’t think he’s going to be out for the long period.
“But at the same time, our team has got quality players, quality, quality players. You look at Fezile Gcaba, he tried, he played there. It’s all about basic, it’s all about understanding what you need to do in your area of operation. He tried that.
“You look at Liam De Kock, he also played well as a centre-back. What it says to us as a technical team is we need to trust each and every player that is there. And like I’m saying, again, we’ve got a very, very quality team.”
They face Golden Arrows tomorrow in a Betway Premiership match at King Zwelithini Stadium.
The game starts at 3pm.
