This summer, a tragic accident claimed the lives of professional hockey players Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau. The brothers were struck and killed by a drunk driver, who now faces a lengthy prison sentence.

Details: According to The Athletic, the accused could receive up to 60 years in prison—30 years for each death. He is charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter under aggravated circumstances.

Reports indicate that the driver fled the scene without attempting to help and "showed complete disregard for human life."

Initially, the driver faced a 20-year sentence for involuntary manslaughter, but the jury decided to press more severe charges.

Reminder: The family of former Calgary Flames player Johnny Gaudreau recently traveled to Calgary for a farewell ceremony held at the Flames' home arena. During the ceremony, his wife Meredith revealed a wrist tattoo of Johnny's signature as a tribute.
