Dr Xanti Phuphuma on the brink of history with Milford FC this afternoon in the PSL Promotion Play-Off

Dr Xanti Phuphuma is on the brink of history in South African football.

The Milford FC coach is on the verge of guiding his side to Betway Premiership promotion today.

Milford FC are on top of the PSL Promotion/Relegation Play-Off this afternoon at Umhlathuze Sports Complex when they host fellow promotion chasers in Cape Town City.

The Stallions, as Milford are known, are on top of the standings with six points from their two victories over both Magesi FC and Cape Town City.

Cape Town City are winless in their first two games and a loss for them would mean they are condemned to the Motsepe Foundation Championship for another season.

But it's Milford who have been knocking on the Betway Premiership door for a while now and having also reached the Nedbank Cup semi-finals last season does indicate their pedigree in a way.

Today also present them with an opportunity to showcase what they are capable of against Cape Town City, which will be a big test for Phuphuma and his troops.

The match starts at 3pm.
