Doors closed! Atletico boss makes strong statement on Julian Alvarez transfer
A serious dispute has erupted over Julian Alvarez's future.
Details: Atletico Madrid CEO and majority shareholder Miguel Angel Gil Marin gave a very firm response to rumours of a possible departure for Argentine striker Julian Alvarez in an interview with Movistar.
The Madrid club executive stressed that Atletico are extremely unhappy with Barcelona's actions and have no intention of holding any negotiations with the Catalan club. According to Gil Marin, the Colchoneros are hoping to keep the forward, but are prepared to consider alternative options should he wish to leave the team — though only outside Catalonia.
"I dream of Julian staying at Atletico if that is what he wants. We will look for an alternative if he wants to leave the club, but never Barcelona," the Madrid club's CEO said.
It is worth noting that during the 2025/26 season, the Argentine forward made 29 La Liga appearances for Atletico Madrid, scoring eight goals and providing four assists. Authoritative website Transfermarkt values the 26-year-old striker at €120 million.
