Declan Rice still in doubt for Premier League clash against Bournemouth – Arteta provides update on midfielder's condition
It remains uncertain whether Rice will be available for the Premier League Matchweek 20 fixture against Bournemouth.
Details: Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has provided a fresh update regarding Declan Rice’s fitness ahead of the away match against Bournemouth. Arteta stated that a final decision on Rice’s participation will be made right before kick-off.
Rice missed the midweek clash against Aston Villa. He sustained his injury after a collision in the game against Brighton, and the club’s medical staff are closely monitoring his recovery.
The Gunners’ boss also dismissed criticism that Rice should have been substituted earlier against Brighton:
“He managed to finish the match. The adrenaline and his warmed-up body allowed him to carry on, but afterwards his body reacted more strongly than expected.”
Alongside Rice, Riccardo Calafiori and Cristhian Mosquera are still recovering and will not feature in the upcoming games.
It’s worth noting that the match against Bournemouth will take place today, January 3, at 18:30 Central European Time.
Reminder: Arsenal and Manchester City are the main contenders for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo.
