The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has finally made a decision regarding the cancellation of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match between Libya and Nigeria. Ten days after the incident, the CAF Disciplinary Committee issued an official verdict.

Details: CAF conducted an investigation into the matter and took serious action. The Libyan Football Federation was deemed "responsible for violating several provisions of the Africa Cup regulations and the CAF Disciplinary Code."

Libya has been awarded a technical defeat (0-3), while Nigeria receives three points and is now one step away from qualifying for the final tournament.

Recall that the flight of the Super Eagles team from Nigeria was redirected at the last minute to Al-Abraq Airport. Upon arrival, the players spent more than 12 hours without access to necessary facilities, with responsibility for this attributed to the Libyan authorities. As a result, Nigeria decided to withdraw from the match and return home, effectively boycotting the encounter.

Additionally, besides the technical defeat, the Libyan Football Federation is required to pay a fine of $50,000 within two months.
