Cole Palmer to Man United? Club makes final decision on Chelsea star's transfer
Cole Palmer will not be joining Manchester United this summer.
Details: According to Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils' management, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has ruled out the Chelsea star from their transfer targets, citing strict financial and tactical considerations. Previously, it had been reported that Cole Palmer was genuinely interested in a move to Manchester United.
The main stumbling block, it is reported, is the astronomical cost of the deal. Chelsea, having secured Palmer with a contract until 2033, has no intention of letting him go for less than £100 million. Taking into account the player's own wage demands—around £250,000 per week—the transfer has been deemed economically unreasonable. After last summer’s major investments in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Šeško, the club's budget now requires more prudent allocation of funds.
It’s worth noting that this season, the Chelsea midfielder has featured in fourteen matches across all competitions, scoring five goals and providing two assists. Transfermarkt values the player at €120 million.
Reminder: Manchester United have set their sights on Freiburg’s Swiss midfielder Johan Manzambi.
