In a dramatic penalty shootout, England triumphed over Switzerland to secure a place in the Euro 2024 semi-finals.

This match marked a significant milestone for Gareth Southgate, as it was his 100th game at the helm of the English national team. Under his leadership, the Three Lions have won 61 matches, drawn 23, and suffered 16 defeats.

Gareth has become only the third manager to reach 100 games in charge of England, following in the footsteps of Walter Winterbottom (139) and Alf Ramsey (113).

Notably, Southgate has guided England to the European Championship semi-finals for the second time, equalling the achievement of all previous managers combined.

Before the current coach, the Three Lions had reached the Euro semi-finals only twice—in 1996 and 1968—each time finishing with a bronze medal.

It’s worth recalling that under Southgate’s leadership, England reached the final of Euro 2020, where they were narrowly defeated by Italy.

In the semi-finals of the current continental championship, England will face the Netherlands.
