Chelsea has extended the contract of the defender and loaned him out to a Borussia Dortmund

Chelsea has loaned defender Ian Maatsen to Borussia Dortmund, as reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano. The Dutchman's loan agreement with the German club is valid until the end of the season.

According to sources, the Aristocrats extended the player's contract until June 2027 before sending him on loan to Germany.

Maatsen, a 21-year-old left-back who can also play as a left midfielder, is a product of Feyenoord and has been with Chelsea since 2018. In the current season, he has played 15 matches for the Blues in various competitions, accumulating 378 minutes on the field.

Earlier, Borussia Dortmund announced the loan signing of Jadon Sancho from Manchester United until the end of the current season. Meanwhile, Chelsea recalled young forward Daishawn Redan from his loan spell.

Borussia Dortmund is currently in fifth place in the Bundesliga, while Chelsea occupies the tenth position in the Premier League table.
