Chelsea goalkeeper blunder: Penders scores an own goal against Tottenham. Video
Tottenham secured an important victory over Chelsea in the London derby in the 8th round of the English Premier League. The clash at Stamford Bridge ended 2-0 in favor of the visitors, with one of the match's key moments being a comical own goal from Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders.
In the 77th minute, the Chelsea goalkeeper made a serious error following a corner. Penders came off his line poorly and, instead of keeping the ball out of danger, sent it into his own net. The blunder was a painful blow for the hosts and helped Tottenham strengthen their advantage.
After the own goal, Spurs continued to attack and soon found a second. Mathys Tel got on the scoresheet to put the visitors' victory beyond doubt.
For Chelsea, the defeat in such a fiercely contested encounter was made especially painful by their goalkeeper's mistake, with his own goal seriously worsening their position.
Tottenham, meanwhile, capitalized on their opponents' mistakes and left Stamford Bridge with all three points after winning the derby 2-0.
