The fraudster allegedly visited De Bruyne’s home in Belgium multiple times, insisting that he could cure the footballer’s injuries through mystical powers. Given that De Bruyne has struggled with frequent injuries in recent years, the man repeatedly flooded the player’s house with flyers and brochures promoting his so-called healing methods.
His trial is set for June 11, with the first hearing having already taken place on Wednesday in the Hasselt criminal court. According to RMC Sport, the self-proclaimed healer is also accused of harassing a 40-year-old woman who was suffering from health issues. Belgian outlet Belga reports that De Bruyne has joined the civil lawsuit initially filed by this woman.
The Belgian midfielder did not attend the first hearing, with representatives from his entourage appearing on his behalf. On the same day, De Bruyne was on the pitch, helping City secure a Premier League victory over Tottenham.
