Cedric Kaze on Kaizer Chiefs' 2-0 loss to Siwelele FC: We were unlucky in this match as we tried to get a goal past them but it was just not to be

Kaze said the loss was not due to the fact that they had not yet gone settled from the 1-1 draw against Orlando Pirates

Cedric Kaze believes Kaizer Chiefs were unlucky in midweek in their 2-0 loss to Siwelele FC in the Betway Premiership match.

Chiefs lost to the Mangaung-based side in what was an unexpected result given their showing four days earlier against Orlando Pirates.

The shock loss against Lehlohonolo Seema’s side is something coach Kaze feels was largely due to luck than their display on the night.

“I believe we came back from half-time with the right mindset, we were unlucky at some points, we missed many opportunities to score but that’s how football is and we will take the positive mindset we took in the second half, going into our next game against Sundowns,” he said on SuperSport TV after the game.

“It was a game of two halves, we were not there in the first half and everything, starting from the build-up, offensive and defensive ways, and when you’re not there, you will get punished, our reactions were too late,” he said to SuperSport TV after the game.

Kaze downplayed the fact that his Chiefs troops were still not over their 1-1 draw Soweto derby performance.

“We need to get over from the Derby and concentrate on this game, that what we said, we knew this would be a tough one and we saw that. We went into the game very late and it’s one of the biggest areas we need to improve. The consistency in our mindset, in our behaviour, going forward.”

Chiefs face table-topping Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday night in the Betway Premiership as they aim to cement their third place finish push.

It’s expected to be a humdinger of a game as Sundowns want to maintain their grip at the top of the PSL standings.
