Candidates for Gareth Southgate's replacement in the England national team have been named if the coach takes over Manchester United.

According to The Mirror, Eddie Howe, Graham Potter, and Gary O'Neill could be contenders for the position of head coach of the England national team in case the current manager departs.

Howe has been in charge of Newcastle since 2021, Potter has been without a job since being dismissed from Chelsea last year, and O'Neill has been coaching Wolverhampton since August 2023.

Earlier reports suggested that Southgate ranks high on the list of potential options in the event that Manchester United's leadership decides to dismiss Erik ten Hag this summer. The 53-year-old coach is considered a candidate by the new co-owners of Manchester United, the company INEOS.

Under Gareth Southgate's leadership, the England national team reached the semi-finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup and exited the 2022 World Cup at the quarter-final stage. Additionally, England reached the final of Euro 2020, where they lost to Italy in a penalty shootout.
