Manchester United have found a surprise candidate to replace ten Hag

Manchester United is considering various coaching candidates in case a decision is made to part ways with Erik ten Hag this summer.
According to ESPN, a prominent figure on the list of potential options is the current head coach of the England national team, Gareth Southgate.
The 53-year-old coach is being viewed favorably by the prospective new co-owners of Manchester United, the INEOS company. Its owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, admires Southgate's ability to deliver results in high-profile matches.
Under Southgate's guidance, the England national team reached the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and advanced to the quarter-finals in the 2022 World Cup. Additionally, England made it to the final of Euro 2020, where they narrowly lost to Italy in a penalty shootout.
At the club level, Southgate has exclusively coached Middlesbrough from the summer of 2006 to October 2009. Following this, he coached the England U-21 team before becoming the head coach of the senior national team in 2016.
