Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Rangers Int'l have officially confirmed that they have petitioned the Confederation of African Football (CAF) over fan misconduct during the first leg of the second preliminary round of the 2026/27 CAF Champions League.

The Flying Antelopes raised the complaint following their 2-0 victory over the Algerian side at the MKO Abiola Stadium on Sunday, October 18, 2026.

In a statement released on Monday, October 19, Rangers accused some visiting supporters of damaging stadium property, including an entrance gate and seats. The club also raised concerns about alleged unauthorised entry without payment of gate fees.

The club's statement read:

“Rangers International FC, Enugu, confirms that it has formally petitioned the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following incidents involving visiting supporters during and after our CAF Champions League fixture against MC Alger at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, on Sunday, 18 October 2026.

“The Club has raised concerns regarding the reported destruction of a stadium entrance gate, unauthorised entry without payment of gate fees, vandalisation of stadium seats and other acts of disorder.

“In its petition, Rangers has requested urgent intervention by CAF, including consideration of appropriate precautionary measures ahead of the return fixture scheduled for Friday, 23 October 2026, in Algiers.

“Rangers International FC remains committed to fair play, respect for football regulations and the safety of players, officials, supporters and all stakeholders.

“We have confidence in the established processes of CAF and await its response.

“We thank our supporters for their continued loyalty and urge everyone to remain calm, disciplined and focused as the Club prepares for the return leg.

“Never Say Die.”
