CAF Champions League: Enugu Rangers Eliminated After 3-0 Defeat to MC Alger
Enugu Rangers have been eliminated from the CAF Champions League after suffering a 3-0 defeat to MC Alger in the second leg of their preliminary-round tie in Algeria.
The Nigerian champions went into the encounter with a two-goal advantage from the first leg but failed to hold on as MC Alger staged a dramatic comeback to win 3-2 on aggregate.
The first half ended goalless, with both sides unable to break the deadlock. However, MC Alger found their breakthrough in the 58th minute when Chahreddine Mouloudia scored to give the hosts hope.
The Algerian side missed a penalty in the 70th minute but continued to push for more goals. Their efforts paid off in the 85th minute when Mohamed Bangoura scored to make it 2-0 on the night, levelling the tie on aggregate.
MC Alger completed the turnaround deep into stoppage time, with Bayaazid scoring the decisive goal to seal a 3-0 victory and send the Algerian club through to the next round.
The defeat ends Enugu Rangers’ continental campaign, with the NPFL champions left to rue their failure to protect the two-goal advantage they secured in Nigeria.
