Messi’s critics have found fresh fuel for their conspiracy theories.
Details: FIFA has officially appointed American referee Ismail Elfath as the chief official for the World Cup semi-final between England and Argentina. The highly anticipated showdown will take place on July 15 in Atlanta.
According to Mail Sport, teams featuring Lionel Messi have never lost a match officiated by Elfath. This includes several Inter Miami fixtures and the 2023 Leagues Cup final.
Additionally, the American served as the fourth official in the 2022 World Cup final, where Argentina triumphed over France in a dramatic penalty shootout to lift the trophy.
Elfath will be assisted by fellow Americans Corey Parker and Kyle Atkins. Italian referee Maurizio Mariani has been appointed as the fourth official, while Daniele Bindoni will serve as the reserve assistant.
The England vs Argentina semi-final kicks off at 21:00 Central European Time on July 15. The winner will book a spot in the World Cup final.
Reminder: England's leader is back! He will start against Argentina!
