Mamelodi Sundowns kicked off their Club World Cup campaign with a victory.
Details: Today at the Orlando Stadium, the "Brazilians" played their debut match at the 2025 Club World Cup against Ulsan HD, starting the tournament with a win.
Despite a delayed kickoff due to weather conditions, Antonio Abas's men maintained their focus and energy, taking to the pitch fully composed and determined.
The Sundowns put the ball in Ulsan's net three times, but only one goal counted. First, in the 29th minute, Reyners's strike was ruled out for handball, but just seven minutes later, in the 36th, the same Reyners scored a legitimate goal off a Ribeiro assist, opening the scoring. Only three minutes after that, Reyners could have officially bagged a brace, but Ikraam's precise finish was disallowed for offside—leaving him with a "brace of disallowed goals" instead.
The next fixtures in Group F are set for June 22: Ulsan HD will face Fluminense, while Mamelodi Sundowns take on Borussia Dortmund.
For now, Sundowns top the group with three points. Borussia and Fluminense follow with one point each, while Ulsan HD sit at the bottom.
