In the fifth game of the final series, Boston defeated the Dallas Mavericks to secure the NBA championship title.

Throughout the entire 2024 playoffs, the Celtics suffered only three losses: one in the finals against the Mavericks, one in the first round against Miami, and one in the second round against Cleveland. This is the second-best record in NBA history. The record belongs to the Golden State Warriors, who lost only once in 2017.

Notably, this NBA championship is Boston's 18th in history. This achievement surpasses the Lakers in the number of NBA titles, making the Celtics the record holders in league history. Golden State ranks third with seven titles.

The Finals MVP was awarded to Boston's guard, Jalen Bryan, who averaged 20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists, with a 44% field goal percentage.
