Borussia Dortmund signs Couto permanently from Manchester City

Manchester City defender Yan Couto needed just over two months on loan to impress Borussia Dortmund's management, leading the club to make the Brazilian's contract permanent.

Details: According to Fabrizio Romano, Dortmund activated the purchase option for the 22-year-old. To finalize Couto's transfer, the German club will pay up to €30 million.

Reminder: Couto has been with Manchester City since July 2020, when he transferred from Brazil’s Coritiba, but he never made an appearance under Pep Guardiola. Instead, he went on a series of loan spells, most notably with Girona, where he spent three seasons, and in 2021-2022 with Braga in Portugal. Recently, Couto’s girlfriend became a social media sensation after an amusing online mix-up.
