In 2024, Thibaut Courtois announced his retirement from the national team following a conflict with Domenico Tedesco. However, with a new coach in place, efforts are being made to bring him back.

Details: Belgium’s new head coach, Rudi Garcia, expressed his desire to see the world's best goalkeeper return to represent the national team and stated that they will work toward convincing Courtois.

Quote: "It would be fantastic to have the best goalkeeper in the world. The signs are positive, so we’ll see what the future holds. Eden Hazard could be valuable in this; he lives in Madrid, and that might be key in Courtois’ case," said Rudi Garcia.

Notably, recent reports suggested that Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois plans to return to the Belgian national team in 2025. The goalkeeper, who has made 102 appearances for the "Red Devils," ranks eighth on the list of players with the most caps for Belgium.

Reminder: Garcia will make his debut as head coach in the Nations League Division A playoff matches against Ukraine. In the qualification campaign for the 2026 World Cup, Belgium will face Kazakhstan, Wales, North Macedonia, and Liechtenstein.
