Belgium are set to face Spain in the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but one of their defenders will be unavailable because of an ongoing dispute involving his club.
Details: According to The Athletic, defender Zeno Debast has found himself at the centre of a disagreement between the Belgium national team and his club, Sporting.
The club has declared the player unfit to play and informed the 22-year-old that he is not ready to take the field in Los Angeles. However, that assessment contradicts the opinion of Belgium's medical staff.
Despite the differing views, Debast now appears likely to miss Friday's quarter-final against Spain, which kicks off at 21:00 CET on July 10.
Reminder: Paraguayan senator Celeste Amarilla has claimed that her Instagram account was hacked. The statement came just days after racist remarks targeting France captain Kylian Mbappé were posted from the account following Paraguay's match against France.
