English defender Eric Dier, whose contract is owned by Tottenham, has moved to Bayern Munich on loan for a period of six months during the winter transfer window.

Yesterday, it was reported that the German club has decided to exercise the option outlined in the player's contract and sign him to a permanent contract for a year.

Max Eberl, a member of Bayern's management board for sports, stated:

"Eric Dier's contract has been extended for another year after he has played a certain number of matches. With his character, he is a valuable asset in our defense."

The defender himself commented on the matter:

"I am happy in Munich. My future is now determined, and I can focus on playing well for the club and striving to help the club win matches, win competitions, although it has been a challenging period for us."

Dier will join Bayern as a free agent, as his agreement with Spurs is set to expire in the summer of 2024. The transfer will take place when the Englishman's contract with Tottenham expires.
