Julián Álvarez joined Atlético Madrid in the summer of 2024 and quickly became one of the team’s leaders. Barcelona had been tracking him, but now appear to have cooled their interest.
Details: According to Alfredo Martínez, the Catalan club is now unsure whether they should move ahead with the signing of the Argentine striker. The issue stems from his underwhelming display in their recent head-to-head clash, where Barça defeated Atlético 2–1. Barcelona believe Álvarez is not worth the fee Atlético Madrid are demanding.
This comes shortly after we reported that Barcelona had officially submitted a request to Atlético Madrid regarding a potential transfer for the 25-year-old Argentine forward. However, Atlético’s response stunned the Catalan board.
Reminder: Julián Álvarez joined Atlético from Manchester City in the summer of 2024 for €75 million. He has made 76 appearances for Atlético, scoring 39 goals and providing 12 assists.
