Barcelona gave their supporters another reason to celebrate ahead of the start of the new season.

Details: Barcelona defeated Egyptian giants Al Ahly 2-1 at Spotify Camp Nou to claim the 2026 Joan Gamper Trophy. Hansi Flick's side did most of the damage before the break: Hamza Abdelkarim opened the scoring in the 29th minute against his former club, before Raphinha converted a penalty shortly before halftime to double the Catalans' advantage.

Al Ahly responded shortly after the restart. Zizo finished a counterattack in the 51st minute to reduce the deficit and bring the Egyptian side back into the contest. Barcelona continued to control much of the possession, although the visitors managed to keep the scoreline close until the final whistle.

The Catalans even had an opportunity to restore their two-goal advantage late in the match when Anthony Gordon won a penalty. However, the Barcelona forward failed to convert from the spot, leaving the final score at 2-1.

The match was the 61st edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy and marked Al Ahly's first appearance in the competition. The Egyptian club also became the first African team to participate in Barcelona's traditional preseason showcase. For the Catalans, the victory completed their preparations before the start of their domestic campaign.

It is worth noting that Barcelona and Al Ahly had already met on special occasions in 1961 and 2007. Their 2026 meeting was the first between the clubs at the Joan Gamper Trophy.

Reminder: Urgent! Barcelona close to signing Argentina forward — and it's not Álvarez
