On Wednesday, August 7, the final of the men's team pursuit cycling event took place in Paris.

The gold medals were won by the Australian cyclists. In the decisive race, the Australians outpaced the teams from Great Britain and Italy, who took silver and bronze, respectively.

Australia was represented by Oliver Bleddyn, Sam Welsford, Conor Leahy and Kelland O'Brien in the pursuit.

Australia now has 39 medals at the Paris Olympics, with 17 of them being gold. Australia is in third place in the overall medal standings, behind the USA and China.

Today, Australian sailor Vern also won his second Olympic gold medal.
