Arthur Zwane praises AmaZulu striker Thandolwetu Ngwenya as the marksman netted the winning goal last night against Polokwane City in the Nedbank Cup
Thandolwethu Ngwenya is slowly becoming a household name in the PSL.
The AmaZulu striker has what it takes to become one of the league’s top marksmen should he continue with this rich vein of form he is currently enjoying.
This is according to his coach Arthur Zwane as Ngwenya netted the winner for the Durban side against Polokwane City to earn his side a place in tonight’s Nedbank Cup last-16 draw.
“Look, Thando is growing in stature and obviously as a striker you always want to score a goal,” said Zwane after his team’s 2-1 victory over Polokwane City.
“It’s good for him and we are happy for him and not only him. Obviously, he’s there scoring goals with the assist of others but he’s more of a sniper. Trust me, if Thando took many other chances that we have created, I’m talking not half chances, but one vs ones, Thando would have been a top goal scorer in the PSL right now in his first season. But we always say everything happens for a reason.
“Probably if he was already a top goal scorer that was going to be too much for him and we still need him going forward because he’s more of a fighter. And I’m impressed with him today [Tuesday], the fighting spirit he showed, he never died on the field. He never gave up. He was pushing, pressing the keeper. He was forcing them to play the long balls so that we can be able to deal with it in the air and find spaces.
“So, I’m very impressed and I just hope he keeps it that way.”
