Footage shared by The Touchline shows Arteta giving Dowman an extremely stern look before appearing to address him with a few words. The Spanish coach's expression immediately attracted attention on social media, with fans discussing his icy reaction to the youngster's dismissal.
The exact words exchanged between the manager and the player remain unknown, but Arteta certainly did not appear pleased. Dowman walked past his coach with his head lowered, while the Spaniard continued watching him with a serious expression.
The incident came during a difficult evening for Arsenal. Fleetwood had taken the lead through Aaron Loupalo-Bi before Viktor Gyökeres equalised shortly after halftime. The match eventually finished 1-1, and the fourth-tier hosts sensationally eliminated Arsenal by winning the penalty shootout 5-3.
It is worth noting that Dowman had been one of Arsenal's heroes in the previous round, scoring twice in the 4-2 victory over Ipswich Town. However, his latest cup appearance ended with the teenager being sent off.
