This season, Arsenal is likely to finish second in the Premier League table, and now Mikel Arteta has shared the reasons why his team failed to capture the title.

Details: In an interview with Sky Sports, the Spanish manager stated that injuries and red cards were the main factors—these, in his view, were decisive in the title race.

Quote: "Red cards and injuries—absolutely. Would we have been much closer? For me, the answer is unquestionably yes," Arteta explained.

Incidentally, the Arsenal boss believes Newcastle is among the contenders for the title next season, noting that Eddie Howe has built a strong team.

Reminder: After yet another trophyless season, Arsenal has begun actively seeking ways to strengthen the squad in the transfer market. One of the Gunners' main targets is Sporting's Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres.
