Arsenal is set to extend the contract with Japanese defender Takehiro Tomiyasu in the near future, as reported by the renowned football insider Fabrizio Romano.

The London club intends to finalize the new agreement with the defender in the coming weeks, following his return from the Japanese national team camp.

Negotiations have been in the concluding stages since December, and both parties are now left to resolve the final formalities before officially announcing the deal.

On February 3rd, Tomiyasu concluded his performances in the Asian Cup after Japan's unexpected exit at the hands of Iran (1:2).

The 25-year-old Tomiyasu joined Arsenal in 2021 from Bologna, with the Gunners paying approximately 19 million euros for the Japanese player. In the current season, the defender has participated in 20 matches under Mikel Arteta's management, scoring one goal and providing three assists. His existing contract with the club is set to expire in June 2025.
