Arsenal has extended the contract of their defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, as reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano.

According to the Italian, the new deal was discussed and finalized over the past two weeks. Arsenal will soon officially announce the extension of their cooperation with Japanese footballer Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Tomiyasu came through the ranks of the Avisspa Fukuoka club's football academy. He made his debut for the first team of the Japanese club on July 13, 2016, in a J1 League match against Tokyo. On July 9, 2019, he moved to the Italian club Bologna. On August 31, 2021, he transferred to the English club Arsenal for £16 million.

Incidentally, the Gunners are considering the possibility of signing Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins for £85 million. It is reported that the London club has already made contact with the player regarding a potential transfer.
