Arsenal and Porto did something that hasn't happened in the Champions League for the last 8 years

The recent second-leg match of the Champions League round of 16 between Arsenal and Porto proved remarkable not only because the "Gunners" secured a quarterfinal berth for the first time in 14 years.

Incredibly, their penalty shootout marked a first for the Champions League in the past eight years! The previous penalty shootout in the Champions League occurred in the 2015/16 season final, where Real Madrid triumphed over Atlético Madrid.

Recall that the hero of the penalty shootout was Arsenal's goalkeeper, David Raya, who managed to save penalties from Wendell and Galeno. Mikel Arteta's team converted their penalties without error.

Additionally, yesterday marked the first time since 2020 that Barcelona has advanced to the Champions League quarterfinals.

The draw for the next two stages of the tournament will take place the day after tomorrow, on March 15th.
