The legendary Nigerian national team player has left this world today.

Details: The official page of the Nigerian national football team reported the passing of 61-year-old former goalkeeper Peter Rufai.

It is reported that Peter lost his battle with a prolonged illness. The team expressed condolences to Rufai's family and thanked the late legend for his immense contribution to the national team's successes.

During his illustrious career, Rufai won the Africa Cup of Nations gold medal in 1994 in Tunisia and also claimed silver in the same tournament in 1988.

Rufai spent most of his career in Europe, playing for clubs such as Belgian sides Lokeren and Beveren, Dutch club Go Ahead Eagles, Portuguese teams Gil Vicente and Farense, as well as Spanish teams Hércules and Deportivo La Coruña.
