Another six years! Spanish Football Federation set to announce new contract for head coach

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) is finalizing a new long-term contract with national team head coach Luis de la Fuente. RFEF president Rafael Louzán has already officially confirmed that an agreement has been reached.

Details: The new four-year contract extends the coach’s previous deal, which was due to expire after Euro 2028, and runs through the end of 2032. In addition to its extended term, the agreement includes a substantial salary increase: de la Fuente will join the ranks of the ten highest-paid national team coaches in the world.

RFEF president Rafael Louzán commented on the decision:

“The results speak for themselves, as does his work. The fans love and respect him. I offered him an extension because financially he was not among the top ten coaches, but now he will be. He has been with us for 14 years, and I want him to finish his career here.”

Under the guidance of the 65-year-old coach, La Roja is enjoying one of the most successful periods in its history, having won the 2023 Nations League, Euro 2024 and triumphantly lifted the 2026 World Cup. The new contract guarantees that de la Fuente will lead Spain’s home side at the 2030 World Cup.
