Barcelona has already completed one of its highly anticipated summer signings by officially announcing the acquisition of Dani Olmo this week. However, another Spanish national team star remains on their radar - Nico Williams. The situation regarding Williams is still unresolved.
Williams has already returned to preseason training with Athletic Bilbao, and Barcelona has set a deadline of August 23rd to finalize the transfer. In the meantime, the Blaugrana are exploring other options for that position, with Kingsley Coman of Bayern Munich emerging as their primary alternative.
Bayern Munich has indicated that they are willing to let Coman go on loan with an option, or even an obligation, to buy. This would be a favorable and cost-effective solution for Barcelona, but they may face competition in securing Coman’s services.
According to Florian Plettenberg, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is also closely monitoring Coman. The French champions have already initiated talks with both Bayern Munich and Coman’s representatives, putting them ahead of Barcelona in this pursuit, although the transfer is still far from being finalized.
If PSG successfully snatches Coman from under Barcelona’s nose, and if Williams decides against moving to Camp Nou, Barcelona could find themselves without a key signing for that position. This scenario could pose challenges for the club in the upcoming season.
