Dani Carvajal’s long-term injury poses a significant challenge for Real Madrid.

At the moment, the only immediate replacement within the squad is Lucas Vázquez, who is expected to step in temporarily. When asked about the possibility of bringing in a new right-back, Real Madrid's head coach Carlo Ancelotti provided some insight.

Details: Carvajal has been a pivotal figure for Real Madrid since his transfer from Bayer Leverkusen in 2013. As a fixture on the right flank of the defense, it’s hard to imagine Los Blancos enduring the season without him. According to Ancelotti, for now, the team will rely on Lucas Vázquez, but they will assess the situation during the international break.

Quote: “Vázquez gives us a lot of confidence. During this international break, we will have time to discuss the matter, considering the market is closed and there aren’t many options,” Ancelotti’s comments were shared by Fabrizio Romano.

Added: One of the most ideal replacements for Carvajal has long been considered Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold. Rumors of his potential transfer to Real Madrid have been circulating for some time, and according to the Spanish publication Sport, Real Madrid is reportedly halfway through securing the signing of the Englishman. Initially, the club had planned to sign Alexander-Arnold next summer as a free agent, but Carvajal’s injury may force them to accelerate the deal, possibly acquiring him in January at a reduced price. As per Transfermarkt, the player’s market value stands at €70 million.

Meanwhile, Relevo suggests that Éder Militão might be considered as another option for the right-back position, though it may not be the primary choice for Ancelotti.

It’s worth noting that several free-agent right-backs are currently available, allowing Real Madrid to sign a player without significant financial expenditure. Among the top free-agent right-backs are Serge Aurier, formerly of PSG, Tottenham, and Villarreal; Cédric Soares, who has played for Sporting, Arsenal, and Fulham; and Bouna Sarr, who previously featured for Metz, Marseille, and Bayern Munich.
