African refereeing team appointed to officiate the Portugal - Uzbekistan match

FIFA has appointed three Moroccans and two South Africans to officiate this match.

This match between Portugal and Uzbekistan forms part of the second matchday in Group K of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. It is scheduled for 23 June at 5 pm GMT at the NRG Stadium in Houston.

For this match, FIFA has appointed an all-African refereeing team. Jalal Jayed of Morocco has been named the referee. He will be assisted by his compatriots Zakadia Brinsi and Mostafa Akarkad. South Africans Abongile Tom and Zakehele Siwela will serve as the fourth and fifth officials respectively.
