AFCON 2027 qualifiers: Guinea announce Saidou Sow’s withdrawal, Ousmane Condé called up as a replacement
The Guinean national team will have to manage without Saidou Sow during the November international break. The defender, who has suffered a knee injury, will be unable to take part in the two-legged tie against Eritrea, which count as Matchdays three and four of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The player was injured during the Ligue 2 match between FC Nantes and Clermont Foot. Forced to leave the pitch in the 16th minute, he has ultimately been ruled out of the Syli National’s next two fixtures.
To make up for his absence, manager Paulo Duarte has decided to call up Ousmane Condé. The Guinean striker thus joins the squad and will make his debut for the national team during this international break. This is his very first call-up to Guinea’s senior squad.
It is an opportunity for the young striker to make his debut in the colours of the Syli National. Guinea will host Eritrea on 12 November in Conakry on matchday three, before travelling to Cairo on 16 November for matchday four of the qualifiers.
