Achraf Hakimi Departs Moroccan Camp Ahead of Lesotho Match
Moroccan team leader Achraf Hakimi suddenly left the national team's training camp before their last AFCON 2025 Qualifier match against Lesotho. This happened after Morocco won against Gabon, making sure they were first in Group B with all wins.
Coach Walid Regragui explained the situation during the team's last practice: "Achraf left with permission from me, the staff, and the federation. We had a deal with Paris Saint-Germain that let him play in the Olympics if he missed one game during the season. We picked this game."
"The trip to Gabon took six hours each way," Regragui said, highlighting Hakimi's demanding workload. It is advantageous for him to take a break considering how many games he has played this season.
On Monday, November 18, at 8 PM Moroccan time (9 PM Cairo time), Morocco will play Lesotho.
