Moroccan football legend Mohamed Timoumi, the 1985 African Player of the Year, talked about his choice for the 2024 African Ballon d'Or in an interview with Foot Africa. Timoumi emphasized Achraf Hakimi's remarkable consistency for Paris Saint Germain and Morocco's national teams, saying, "Hakimi has been outstanding throughout the year, excelling at club and international levels," with Rahimi and Hakimi dominating the field.
Rahimi has been exceptional in Asia, but Hakimi has been impressive in Europe. The former Raja Casablanca player led in goals in both contests and played a significant role in Morocco's third-place performance at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. He also helped Al Ain win a major event.
The important CAF Awards event will happen on December 16, 2024, in Marrakech, Morocco. Other players nominated include Algeria's Amine Gouiri, Nigeria's Ademola Lookman, and Bayer Leverkusen's Edmond Tapsoba.
