AC Milan has lost a midfielder for an extended period
Milan has suffered a long-term setback, losing their pivotal midfielder, Tommaso Pobega.
On December 21st, the midfielder underwent surgery for a thigh muscle tendon, as confirmed by the Rossoneri's official website. The operation was successful, yet the estimated timeframe for the player's return to action is around four months.
In the 16th Serie A round against Monza (3:0), the Italian midfielder sustained the injury, signaling for a substitution in the 24th minute of the match.
Pobega, aged 24, has been part of Milan's system since 2013 but spent extended periods on various loan spells. This season, he has participated in 14 matches across all competitions without contributing to the scoresheet.
Milan currently holds the third position in the Serie A standings after 16 rounds, tallying 10 victories and 32 points. In the Champions League, the Rossoneri failed to progress to the Round of 16, securing third place in the group comprising Borussia Dortmund, PSG, and Newcastle.
Earlier reports indicated the club's decision to part ways with head coach Stefano Pioli at the end of the current season.
