A young talent from Athletic Bilbao has defended Vinícius and explained why he is subjected to abuse
A scandal has erupted around Real Madrid winger Vinícius Júnior in recent days. Vinícius has stated that Spain should be stripped of its World Cup hosting rights due to racism in the country.
Athletic Bilbao and Spain's young talent, Nico Williams, has defended Vinícius, suggesting that he is being targeted because he is a great player and a good person.
"Vinícius spoke brilliantly. He is being insulted because he is a great player. This needs to stop. Some people cannot watch a match without insulting a player; you should enjoy the game," Williams commented to AS.
It’s worth noting that Madrid's mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, has also weighed in on the situation. He remarked that everyone is entitled to make mistakes and that Vinícius should apologize and make amends.
